Characteristics of Silver Bamboo Fiber Antibacterial Fabric

Bamboo fiber is a natural fiber. It is bamboo fiber obtained directly from bamboo, or it can be regenerated cellulose fibers, which are extracted in bamboo using the invention patent and through special high-tech processing and then manufactured by processes such as rubber making, spinning, etc. Bamboo fiber is a degradable fiber that can be completely decomposed in the soil without causing damage to the surrounding environment. It is an ideal environmental protection material.

The reason why bamboo fiber fabrics are favored by the market is not only affected by the return to nature, but more importantly, it has advantages that other fibers cannot match, such as excellent coloring, resilience, drapability, antibacterial properties, especially moisture absorption and release and air permeability rank first among all fibers. Bamboo fiber has two main properties, antibacterial and hygroscopicity:

Antibacterial properties: Bamboo has a natural antibacterial effect. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that bamboo leaves, rhizomes, leeks, job's tears, reeds, essence, haw joints, and frost can all cure diseases. In the production process, new technology is used to treat the antibacterial substances, which are not destroyed, and are always combined with the fiber macromolecules, maintaining the antibacterial properties of bamboo fibers. Bamboo fiber fabric will not lose its antibacterial effect after repeated washing and sun exposure. In addition, due to the natural antibacterial properties of bamboo fiber, the fiber will not cause any allergic reaction to the skin when taken, which is very different from the fiber fabric that adds antimicrobial agent during the finishing process.

Hygroscopicity: The textiles made of natural bamboo fiber are characterized by coolness, smoothness, good luster and good hygroscopicity. The test shows that under the condition of 100% relative humidity, the moisture regain rate and moisture regain speed of bamboo fiber are unmatched by other fibers. This shows that bamboo fiber has better moisture absorption and quick-drying properties than other fibers.

Bamboo itself has antibacterial, anti-ultraviolet and other characteristics. Textiles made of bamboo fiber have a 24-hour antibacterial rate of 71%, which is much higher than other types of fibers. The inspection by the Japan Textile Inspection Association also confirmed that the fabrics and yarns made of bamboo fibers have natural antibacterial effects.

Silver fiber has excellent antibacterial property. At the same time, it will not cause harm or side effects to human cells, will not cause adverse effects on the fabric feel, and bacteria will not develop resistance to it. Silver fiber has been approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Drug Administration (FDA). It has also been confirmed by Oeko-Tex that it will not harm human health, and it has been approved by the Japanese Ministry of Health as an antibacterial material. The antibacterial time of silver fiber can be as long as several decades.

The two natural materials of bamboo fiber and silver thread are spun and weaved together to produce bamboo fiber and silver thread antibacterial health care fabric. According to the National Textile Products Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, the bamboo fiber silver wire has excellent antimicrobial effect, and the antibacterial rate is above 99.99%, and it does not contain any harmful substances specified in the Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) for authorization published by European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) on and before Jun 10, 2022 regarding Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 concerning the REACH and in the Public Consultation List of potential Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) published by European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) on and before Sep 2, 2022 regarding Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 concerning the REACH.

The combination of the two natural materials bamboo fiber and silver thread, further enhances its deodorizing and antimicrobial functions, and has inhibitory and auxiliary therapeutic functions for preventing skin itching, body moss, dermatitis, etc. In addition, it has the advantages of hygroscopicity, air permeability, drapability, and easy dyeing. It is an ideal clothing fabric in high temperature and humid environment, and can be widely used for making underwear, trousers, shirts, sportswear, baby clothes, socks, insoles, bed sheets, bedding, etc. Sodium chlorophyllin contained in bamboo is a safe and excellent ultraviolet absorber, and the summer clothes made of this fabric have a good anti-ultraviolet effect on the skin. The fabric fully complies with the national standard of GB/T2094.4-2007 "Evaluation of Antibacterial Properties of Textiles".
